1 Carte (as written on the original blue form but the photograph is not a carte, more a cabinet card) photocopy of Mr. Adam Jackson to Archives V.F. The name "Clarke" is on the arm on the left bottom of the photograph. This is a photograph of the etching (see 2000.124.0004).
A label that goes with the Allis Jackson tapestry reads: Adam Jackson 1816-1892. Married Allis Sidebotham in 1841 in Stockport, England. Came to New Zealand in 1842 in the 'Martha Ridgeway'. They had 2 sons and 4 daughters - one daughter, Alice Watson Jackson, married Richard Watson Parker on 21 July 1875. 8 daughters: Alice (Rush), Ida (died aged 20 years), Amy (Parker - 2nd cousin), Mary Emma (single), Violet (Wright), Rene (Gee), Doris (Logan), Gladys (Holdaway).

It has frequently been said that the high lands above Blenheim were too dry to grow anything. How absurd this idea is may be seen by calling in at Mr. Adam Jackson's farm, near Renwick, who has got a fine crop of Mangold Wurtzel. A specimen root lies at the Express Office for the inspection of the curious. With all the small roots trimmed off, the tap root weighed 35lbs when brought to our office.
